Ever since Apple released their movie trailer creator for IMovie, I've had a camera in his hand. I have experience in front of and behind the camera. In middle school I was a production assistant for some pre-taped morning segments at my local Fox affiliate. My roles ranged from teleprompter to camera switching. I also assisted with and appeared on the internationally syndicated Curious Crew.
During COVID I assisted a local non-profit with donor appeal and impact testimonial videos. Also during COVID I began editing videos for University Lutheran Church (ULC). The church had recently begun live streaming their services, and needed content for the stream. I started by assisting another editor with music videos, but quickly changed roles and became responsible for putting together a weekly video recapping the children's service that was recorded on Zoom on Wednesdays. After some time the editor I initially assisted moved on so I took on more multi week music projects which involved working with the director of music to mix audio as well as compile the video. During this time I also substituted for the technical director as needed. As time went on and COVID restrictions loosened I helped architect the studio set up that would be installed in the church sanctuary. When in person streaming started, I became the main producer, running rehearsals, directing cameras and troubleshooting equipment.
My most recent experience is working as a camera operator and rigger at the Digital Media Commons at the University of Michigan. The team in the video studio work with students and faculty, often from the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, to share their talents with the world. Many of the projects I have worked on are showcased here.
